Tru Earth’s Donations During Covid-19 Top 2-Million Laundry Loads

Three hundred thousand laundry strip donation to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region puts Tru Earth over the mark.

Kitchener, ON (July 17th, 2020) – Tru Earth

As the World Health Organization (WHO) confirms that COVID-19 cases are rising, the #TruEarthMovement hits a major milestone in the fight against food and cleaning product insecurity.

The Food Bank of Waterloo Region received Tru Earth’s donation today of 300,000 loads of laundry. “The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all of our lives, and while many of us begin to return to some level of normalcy, that isn’t the case for 34,552 people and families in our community,” said Wendi Campbell, CEO, The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. “Many will continue to feel the stress of time away from work, unexpected illness and changes in financial stability, making it difficult to purchase food and other necessities, such as laundry detergent. Tru Earth’s generous donation of laundry detergent strips means people and families accessing food assistance are also receiving much needed necessities that may not be within their budgets.” This donation will provide clean clothes for a month to more than 15,000 families accessing assistance through the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

The initiative began in March when the company started to match each customer purchase with a donation. After surpassing an initial goal of $150,000 worth of donations, Tru Earth set a new target of donating $1,000,000 of zero waste laundry strips.

Tru Earth is celebrating the generosity of customers who spurred the donation of 2,021,984 loads of laundry detergent ($1,051,188.93 retail value) to families in need across the globe. As customers continue to purchase Tru Earth’s products, the company needs help connecting with more organizations in need. By sharing the #TruEarthMovement, more lives can be changed.

“Our core value at Tru Earth is that consistent small action can lead to big change in the world. We see this not as a choice but as our commitment to help make the world a better place” said Brad Liski, Co-Founder of Tru Earth. “We are a Start Up Company, but we are inspired by our team, our customers and our local, national and international organizations that are addressing the greatest need and caring for the most vulnerable among us.”
